Firstly hi all as I’m new here.
I started road riding as a young lad and was a member of the Weston wheelers some 36 years ago, although I gave up road racing in my late teens, and moved over to mountain biking (they were the days, no shocks and brakes that didn’t work!) and still riding. The closes I have to a road bike is my hardtail, which is fitted with road tyres for commuting to work, although planning to get a cyclocross for work

Reason for posting?
Although I see myself as a mounting biker (why do roadies never say Hi to us???) I still love watching the grand tours on TV, especially the Tour De France, after many years of wanting to see it I’m finally going to see it this year in the Pyrenees stage 9.
By luck we are going to be in the Pyrenees touring in our camper at the same time and will be say in Luz St Sauveur (staying here as I’m planning to ride the Col De Tourmalet) On the day of stage 9 I’ll drive over the Tourmalet to the next valley to see the race, and aim to see it on the last mountain of the day (La Hourquette d’Ancizan)

As I’ve never seen the tour I have no idea what time I would need to be on the mountain in order to get a good spot (no doubt early) has anyone got any advice or even know the mountain well? Failing that I could watch it down in the valley towards the end?? personally I believe up in the mountain would be best, plus I’ll have my 3yr old lad with my and want him to enjoy it too.

Any info suggestion welcome
Cheers

1, American Flyer on DVD : Can anyone find this film on DVD? would appreciate information with a "Link to buying"

2, (this will need explanation) I cannot remember the name of the film; it was shown on TV in the late 1950's and 60's?? The film is about a Yorkshire/Lancashire group of cyclists going for a club ride on a Sunday (I think) probably in Black&White (it's an old one) can anyone remember the film? Some help appreciated.

Thanks

As seeing a mountain stage of the Tour de France is on my list of things to do afore I die, it is the 100th Tour and I expect Chris Froome to win the stage, I intend being on Mont Ventoux.

However, I have no accommodation and no route planned.

I am down to two options;

1) Train to Avignon and bus/walk to Mont Ventoux and sleeping rough the night before on or near the mountain.

2) Drive from UK to Mont Ventoux with my car-bed and sleep the night before on or near the mountain.

Is anyone else going and what are their plans?

First post and a bit rude I know for not introducing myself but needs must so please accept my apologies.

Looking for recommendations on solicitors who could prospectively take over my wife's claim following her cycling accident last August. Long story but basically the company she is with now are next to useless (not naming them but they were once quite big in PI but not any more apparently) and the solicitor dealing has hampered my wife's ongoing rehab and contributed to her PTSD so we have settled on one of two companies to transfer to.

Following recommendation from Rhia at CTC we looked at Slater Gordon and were directed to Jonathan Belcham, a legal executive in Manchester who is a legal executive. Doesn't seem to be a cyclist himself but has worked it woudl seem with footballers etc and comes highly recommended. He has apparently done a lot of cycling claims, has been instructed by QC.

The next one is a small local firm to us called Wace Morgan, and Jeremy Hunt. He is most definitely a cyclist and is dealing with an old mate of mines cycling RTC, he is a solicitor on the panel for personal injuries, is a partner in the firm, has lots of qualifications etc and seems very well respected.

Question is do we go with the big guys like Slater Gordon who can supposedly maximise the claim and get her the best rehab or is the 'little local guy' the best bet.

Anyone have experience of dealing with either?

Thank you v much in anticipation
