Well I understand what you're wanting with a tech reference section but like you said there are review things on the web already and I would be concerned that if there was a section aimed at what is a good deal and where it could be open to spam posts appearing. I hope everyone finds the "tech" section informative and friendly, I have never felt anyone has been ridiculed by asking any question, in fact I think it's a good thing that people are so keen to learn about their bike and very wise to ask opinions about what to buy! I never get tired of helping anyone who asks as long as I know how to help, whether it's a puncture repair to fitting a rear mech. The market changes so fast and good deals change daily so to build up a reference would be a nightmare so if people just continue to ask in the "tech" section I'm sure all questions will be answered to the best of our ability! Sometimes if someone is looking for a chainset for example and a better one is known then the link to that dealer is always added to the post like I did recently with an FSA chainset, there is no point keeping a bargain to ourselves but there is also no point keeping a reference of these deals or links since once stock has sold out or changed the link becomes useless and how often do you click on a great deal you spot on Google only to find out it's sold out 6 months ago. |
