Re: Using indoor rowing for training

heavyweight, 6ft, and have just been trying to post best time possible. With 10k, it's not a flat out effort, I find it best to keep steady until a flourish at the end, so most would be done at say...

Re: Using indoor rowing for training

I'm 45, and err, fit enough to row 10km in that time, which I hope will come down to 40 mins in the next few months. The max HR I hit was 162 I think.
    5 of the 7 stages are big - 15 is 220km,...

Re: Using indoor rowing for training

I should just say I ride too, it's just that rowing is often quicker and easier than getting kitted up, even for the turbo. This week I've done a few 10km rows, at around 41-42 mins and average heart...

    Using indoor rowing for training

I've been rowing for a few years, but I'm now six months away from cycling stages 15-21 of the TdF, and wondered if anyone had suggestions as best use of time on the machine.
    I've been rowing 10km...
  6. Tyres: How much time would I save using 23s instead of 25s over 100km?

like the comfort of 25s, but assume some time can be saved on 23s.
  7. Re: London-Cannes -charity ride in JANUARY

    just as little as possible.
i got 10 days away from the family for JOGLE but can't really get more than that again. Will have to be at conference 2-3 days, so 7-8 days riding preferably.
    i'm...
  8. Re: London-Cannes -charity ride in JANUARY

it's only that time and route because of a conference that starts 22/1/12. i'd raise a lot more arriving just as it started.
London - Cannes is the only ride to consider
  9. London-Cannes -charity ride in JANUARY

i'm looking to ride London-Cannes in January next year for charity, to arrive just as a conference is starting.

Re: Training for JOGLE - not looking good!

it's now 2 weeks until my JOGLE.
I rode Dunwich Dynamo and a total of 220 miles over 2 days. The tightness in my right calf re-emerged, but i also got (I think) a trapped nerve in my right backside...

Re: Training for JOGLE - not looking good!

confidence and motivation I think are fine, just want to go in to it being the best i can be.
can't take time off work, and can see now I won't get more than 2 days in a row cycling, so I guess my...

Training for JOGLE - not looking good!

I've signed up for a John O'Groats-Land's End ride

    Re: slow punctures

my over-riding memory of cycling as a child is spending an entire Sunday afternoon fixing a puncture with a bowl of water with my father.

    slow punctures

having had a few punctures recently, I bought new tyres, even fitted kevlar liners as I was getting fed up.
Anyway, 48 hours after pumping my Continental Race 28 tubes to 110psi, I find both are...

    Fraying gear cable

just noticed the cable for rear wheel gears is slightly frayed right at the bottom of the frame where the cable goes into the frame.
I'll get it changed, but do you reckon it'll snap really soon?...

    100 mile sportive

is it practical or desirable to complete this without a stop?
I'd like to achieve a great time, not sure whether not stopping for a 5-10 minute water/food break is a false economy

Where do we go from here?...

13 months after buying first bike, I completed the Kent sportive at weekend in a time to earn me 40th overall and 16th out of 150 in my 40+ group. Quite happy with that.

I put the results in a...
