    I always think an Aluminium Boardman team/ Comp is a great place to start, just avoid Halfords after purchasing the bike.

    Light (ish) well spec'ed, good price as well.

    pro helmets are significantly more advanced than the general helmets, my race team helmet has kevlar built into it reducing the need for EPS foam and as such is smaller and more pro looking....
