You say in another thread that you lift weights so forget what the scales tell you, B.M.I does not work either. You will have to go purely by body fat percentages. I have a stone to lose to take my body fat to 8% and will still have a B.M.I of over 30 which is obese according to the NHS site and I am only 5ft 8. You can't expect to find your ideal weight purely by asking others since we are all different.I can't expect to weigh the same as my brother in law who is my height but my legs are nearly his waist size and arms are dam near the size of his legs,I am 4 stone heavier and can out cycle him in all but the steepest, longest hills. Also if you have been weight lifting for a long time your bone density will have increased as well as muscle mass. If you are fairly lean, fit, healthy and can put in good effort on the bike be happy with that. To add a note about your thead about losing muscle mass because of cycling, this only happens if you are using massive weights/low rep work to build bulk and start replacing gym time with cycling but to be honest heavy weight training makes you strong as an ox but not aerobic by any means. It comes down to your choice, do you want to be a Chris Hoy, Andy Schlek or somewhere in between, you can't be everything!

8% body fat,wow good results, bruce lee was only 3% at his fittest (i think i read somewhere). you must have great definition mate, and its reassuring (check spelling) to hear that when you have lifted weights that your bmi goes out the window because i often think if i got my bmi and weight down to that adviced by the machine in boots i would be back to the weight i was as a school leaver.cheers for your response.andy.

i must apologise i misread your post , after reading it again i see you have a stone to lose to get to 8% body fat. youre body fat must still be a lot lower than mine, when i joined a health club before they measured me with the fat calipers and i was about 22% which i feel will be somewhere near that now when i give my love handles the pinch test ha ha

Same age and height as you, weigh just over 12 stone. I'd estimate that if I lost any weight I'd look like a POW.
