I looking to buy my first trainer, but see that you only get computers with the digital trainers.
As someone who is still a beginner, do I really need an expensive digital trainer, or should I get a quality unit and just time my sessions? Can I swap my existing comp to my rear wheel?
Budget of around 150.00.

You really don't need a digital/computer controlled turbo, as nice as they are a basic turbo that's well made like the Cycleops range, there are plenty guides online on how to train and you can fit a computer to the back wheel but if you use a wireless one it may not transmit far enough so a cheap cable one with cadence sensor would be ideal.

For £150 these look a good torture machine!

I was thinking of that exact model as well.
Will go with cheap wired comp as my current wireless does not have cadence.
Thanks for the advice.

I have the mag version, cheaper but it uses the same frame and it's very well made and stable. But the biggest fan you can find and steal towels...lots of them!
