Have been watching with interest, great racing pictures, good organisation and fantastic crowds. Hope the race survives the monsoon that's coming (lovely day in Scotland today!) but: * Why do we have to have a bimbo reporter who seems to know very little about cycling telling us about places miles away from the race and nothing to do with the race? * Too many adverts lasting too long but I suppose we will have to put up with it. * If Paul Manning is going to make it as a media/race pundit he must stop saying 'YOU KNOW'.Please Paul, stoppit, it driving me nuts!!...YOU KNOW

I too found the coverage excellent apart from all those ads. Why can't they have running strips along the bottom like Spanish TV or 10sec breaks like Italian? They at least make me favourable about their products rather than making me leave the room. Also that bit about Bletchley was a total waste of time. Seeing less cars at the side of the road than in many smaller Belgian, Italian and Dutch races was brilliant Looks like a great day is coming tomorrow when the weather will come into play as well.

I rode to Stages 1 and 2 and it's been brilliant! The coverage doesn't do it justice. Streatley Hill yesterday was absolutely packed with cyclists - hundreds of people. It must have been amazing for Ian Stannard to ride up into that atmosphere - fans crowding into the road to urge him on. And even in Newbury where no-one really knew what was going on, the crowds were 5 deep along the bit in the centre of town. Excellent. Gives me hope. It was almost more encouraging that so many people had turned out despite not being fans - I had my bike and was in lycra and kept getting asked if I was racing...but loads of people asked if Bradley Wiggins was riding, so the GB successes in Beijing have finally trickled through to the non-cycling masses. But yes, I agree, the coverage is painful. Sorry ITV4, not really sure what you're trying to achieve with the travelogues. I miss Phil and Paul.

have to agree guys real 2nd rate coverage especially after the tour of ireland one. Manning and boulting are like a comedy duo, and the obligortory blonde bimbo is a real turn off, its a sports program about cycling poor Hugh must be really embarressed if he sees the replay

I was watching the coverage last night and apart from the numerous breaks the guys commentating were useless?Stannard was on a lone break for 43 miles then he hit a big hill!!!!He was really struggling and they were saying how slow he was riding it. Fast forward 1 minute and the peleton hit the hill alright not as slow but they were all out of the saddle and pushing the pedals hard. The only one who seemed to be finding it easy was House(his sprint scared me over the crest he was like a rocket. Have we found our selves a mountain climber? ).Please ditch bill & ben and get someone who knows wat they are talking about.

Who's responsible for creating the program? ITV or the promoter? I think it's the promoter which is why there is a difference between ToI and ToB programs. Also, if it's the promoter, they want to plug there area and part of the deal is show attractions in there area as a fluff piece hence the Bletchly thing last night.

think we should be glad there's any coverage at, it's obviously been made on a pretty low budget so they need plenty of adverts to pay for it and the highlights are trying to show as much action as they can. Hats off to ITV4 for showing it at all and at a decent time slot too.

I'm sure you are right that part of the deal is to promote the area, fair enough I suppose. 'YOU KNOW' Paul Manning is still 'you knowinging' away, I counted five in one piece. This is making me obsessive about it, sorry folks, I don't think I could do any better. However I feel anyone with plans to become a TV commentator/presenter should be able to speak fluently and clearly without 'you knows' um's and er's. If they can't do it when they start then GET SOME TRAINING. Dave Millar would be really good. Great racing but........

I don't think Manning's got any ambitions to go for a full-time career in commentating you know as he's just started a proper job in construction engineering. But surely a good idea to get an Olympic medal winner to do a bit of guest commentating you know if we're looking to raise the profile of cycling.
Got to support him anyway 'cos he's a local Staffordshire lad. Maybe we all talk like that you know...

You are all Enoch and Eli's in the black country.
Although I am willing to forgive Manning as many "you knows" as he wants - Chapeau sir.

I agree that the presentation is a bit sombre at times (sorry Paul) but personally I'm just very grateful that it's on at all !

Technically where Paul is from isn't really classed as the black country

Wednesdays Coverage Paul M must be relaxing into the job, the 'you knows' seem to have gone away. The racing was excellent and the commentary is growing on me,makes a change from the Phil and Paul combo or the hard to hear mumbling of Kelly. A good evenings viewing.

Don't know what everyone is complaining about. There has been more cycling on telly this year than any other time I can remember - If it wasn't on people would complain about that. Maybe the commentators aren't as good as people would want, but if we continue to have a load of racing shown then they wil get better (and as Pete says they are already improving.)
Just enjoy the racing!

It's on, that's all that really matters.
And Manning has taken to "For sure" instead of "you know". Minor issues, the lot.

A beaut from McCrossan the day before yesterday - "Interestingly Hugh, this man's only got one kneecap", followed by stunned silence. Great stuff!
