Angliru stage, D. Millar
      #34218 - 12/09/2008 17:34

Am I misremembering, or did David Millar fall off, possibly while in a breakaway group going up here a few years ago? I seem to remember it was pouring with rain at the time.

Anyone remember it?

Did he not go over the finish line, have a tantrum, rip his number off, throw his number on the floor, make a protest about the inhumanity of the stage.

Maybe not in that exact order of events

David Millar / Andy Murray

Separated at birth, then one was made to brush his hair and become a bit dapper.

Was he not clipped by a team car near the start of the climb and ended up on the grass verge in a heap ,then at the finish he spat the dummy out

Leave poor old Dave alone, it's not his fault he looks like the most miserable, arrogant and widely hated sportsperson on the planet.

Today Sastre is going to change bikes (he doesn't need his 34*29 for most of the stage!!)

that climb was unbelieveable really - the gradient at times was 21% !- that was some hard work - but contador conquered -! they must have some lactate running through their legs when they finished the stage...

I must admit to walking a lot of the way when I went up it.
But the really frightening bits were coming down again in traffic.

A reporter in Pro-cycling some time back described it as the steepest thing he's seen without a bannister!!

David Millar? Throwing a hissy fit? I SIMPLY DON'T BELIEVE IT.

I watched him in the world championship time trial at the weekend. He was talking it up at the start but ended up ninth. Not a bad ride really, but it ain't so easy without the drugs I guess.
