Big problem finding an answer to this one since what is an average cyclist in both power and in weight. A big rider like myself needs to produce a high wattage to get up hills compared to a small rider which is why we suffer on the slopes but weight has little effect on level ground where a bigger or stronger rider can still churn out the high wattage needeed to fight the wind. That's why a team like CSC has the Cancellaras and Voigts for the TTs and to drag the Sastres and Schlecks to the steep stuff, Everything is power to weight ratio. Sorry I couldn't say the average is 245.3watts, it's just not that simple!

INFO FOR THE LADIES...Pound for Pound women can generate as much power per pound of muscle as men in their legs but much less in their upper body.

Google Andrew Coggan's power profiling table. It shows watts/kg for various durations (1 min, 5 min, 1 hour) for different categories of racer.
