Any guesses for the 2009 Etape route? Ive just read that the tour will be visiting Barcelona on the 9th July following the start in Monaco, so maybe it will be a route that include the Ventoux? Failing that Alpes or Pyrenees??

doesn't it alternate between the Pyrenees and the Alps each year.
Am thinking about entering one year but I think this could be beyond me at the moment

It doesnt always follow that pattern its been 2 years running in the Pyrenees, Ive also completed one in the Central massif. Hopefully it will be the Alpes.

I wouldn't mind doing an etape over a prologue stage.

Unless TdF dates mean an Alpine Etape would 'clash' with the Marmotte, then it'll surely be the Alps for 2009. 2010 is the 100th anniversary of the first inclusion of 'real mountains' - the Pyrenees - in the Tour and the towns down there will be vying to put on the best stages and the best Etape that year. So, the Alps is due an Etape in '09.
