Zabel and Bettini to retire
      #36012 - 28/09/2008 19:54

So farewell then,
Mr.San Remo and The Cricket,
You tried hard today,
But Ballan went and nicked it,
Your careers have been great,
Some might call them spectacular,
(Though you've been rubbish this year,
To use the vernacular)

Well done to both of them, I've enjoyed their performances over the years. They even seem like interesting people!

A fitting tribute to two cycling stars who are definitely picking the right time to quit.

And a nice photo of them by Graham Watson in the men's road race in Varese in CW's gallery too:

Shame about the EPO confession and fuss over signing the UCI's rider charter, but let that be bygones. Ha ha.

Two very likeable riders, always worth watching. Who are Sidi going to use for their irritating advert now?

Ok great riders and now they've retired. Zabel was always competative and always up there contesting sprints , a real hard and committed rider.
So how many years until the the comback!!!!

Not only always competitive, but he raced the whole season, too! Though I think that was because he didn't like training!
