Has anyone else started planning a rough calendar of events for next year yet?
I had a few mins spare, and I have drawn up a short list of events for serious consideration. To keep TWA sweet I have tried to go for as many as poss within easy reach
Cheshire Cat Lakeland Loop, Cumbria Fred Whitton, Lakes or Etape Du Dales, Yorks or GFC, Snowdonia Dave Lloyd Midi Challenge, N Wales Radar Ride (SUS), Scotland Pendle Pedal, Lancs Devil Ride, Mid Wales or Wild Wales, Bala Bealach Mor, Scotland or Toor of Dartmoor or Ullapool, Scotland Autumn Epic, Mid Wales
Anyone with opinions on any of these, please let me know! Particularly those that fall close together where a choice is required... or suggestions for rides not mentioned on cyclosport.org.

Sly it's a year of training away...you did the Dave Lloyd mini this year...make the leap, go mega!!! We will heckle you! Add in the Etepe Caledonia since it's on closed roads, it must be worth looking at, didn't bigold do it this year?

Midi for me next year - 145 miles including the BYG is too much by June for me. Oh yes, the Caledonia would be nice, but depends on time of year as to what it clashes with.

Date does not seem to be announced yet.
Its a good one to do if you like hot weather, each edition has had scorching hot days.

Does nobody train to race these days? It seems sportives everywhere and the racing guys (and gals) are extinct or retired!

Its a pity that BC seem to be dropping this event, as it was really good.
But Derek Boocock does n't seem to want to see it disappear without a fight!

Blimey! I thought sportives were just rides for cyclists involving little money, a fair bit of voluntary effort, but tedious politics? I like an argument but why fight over agreeing to organise a bike ride?
If they were fighting over everyone not organising it, then that would be one thing, but fighting over someone wanting to organise it... well that's ridiculous.
Egos and politics are the death knell for cycling clubs and organisations. Why not get along, its easier in the long term..

Early this year (at least I think it was this year, could have been last year) their was a sportive ride in the comic and all I can remember about it was thring things: 1) The author saying he and his clubmates would have one last ride on there winter bikes and then all turned up on their best bikes 2) The ride involved going up Box Hill in Surrey 3) The club organising it may have had South West in the name but I'm not sure on that. Anybody got any ideas what I'm prattling on about? I know I should have kept that issue or torn the page out, I thought I did and can't find it
