Drumlanrig Ride
      #37782 - 16/10/2008 22:57

Found this sportive:

http://www.drumlanrigchallenge.btik.com/p_Home.ikml

seems very similar to the Radar ride (with the exception of the beeftub/talla). A ride worth doing or better to go for Radar ride?

ALSO, any websites that give a comprehensive list of sportives for 2009?

I looked at it in the spring but decided on the SUS, no real reason why except SUS has lowther hill in it, this one just seems to remind me of a good training ride. The 1st half is good but the the second half is not very exciting..I will wait for the radar ride.

Yep, cyclosport is the place as Fozzie says. They have just published a provisional 2009 calendar, but it's not complete and events will be added as they are finalised.

You can go back through the 2008 calendar to get a good idea of the events and when they are likely to be next year.

There are also good forums in which riders discuss their experiences in the events, so you can tell which ones are likely to be worth entering, etc...

CC, I did this last year - Some of it was very well organised, only criticism was a lot of the route marking was woeful! Riders were on the wrong roads right from the start - Hopefully they improved this year, as it is a splendid venue, quality food, great scenery and good roads. And it raises money for a good cause.

Not sure how you will feel about the way it is done, it's 2 x 40 mile approx loops, and you can't start the second one until a certain time, which is not best if its a cold day. I suppose there are as many advantages as disadvantages to that format!

I hadn't looked into it very much but thanks Buzz for metioning the 2-loops style.
Think I will probably go for the Radar Ride if I can find time for. Don't like the sound of a ride split in 2 much.
