Did anyone ride this last year? How hard is it compared to the Dragon Ride or the Autumn Epic?

Hi Marcus,
Not last year but am doing it this week,
My Son (Bellew) did it last year & he was ok, he's a strong rider though,

Alan.

Not really

I got to about 40 miles going down a very fast (about 45mph) when there was an awfull noise from my back wheel eventually stopped it & 2 spokes had broken in my rear wheel I was gutted, had a fiddle with the spoke key & managed to stop the wheel hitting the frame then limped back the short route, 70miles.

To make up for it I am going to enter next years Dragon Ride when the entries open at Christmas

Alan.

Bad luck.

I did the short route also due to lack of training. Felt good though, and loved the route despite it being SEVERAL miles longer than advertised! How hard is it to state the exact distance??

Start/Finish location was badly planned. Mud everywhere, traffic arriving down a narrow lane as the first riders set off, traffic leaving down the same lane as the first riders arrived back. Dont think they'll be using it again.

The feedstop wasnt reached until 50 - 55 miles approx - shocking! And then when you think you only have a handful of miles remanining you dont necessarily take on board enough supplies. Pricey event as well - and no free fod at the end! And to rub it in, £17.99 for a digital photo??!

Aside from that, the roads were great, views amazing, loads of support from spectators en route, big welcome in at the finish. My favourite descent of the year into Lynmouth (chickened out at just over 40mph but people with local knowledge might have reached far higher), and that was followed by the best ascent I've yet to do, up out of the town on a gradual and winding road, getting harder and harder with seemingly no end in sight! Fantastic.

Too far to go really (took me over 4.5 hours to drive down there). Had a good ride in a new place though, so not all bad!
