Armstrong on the cover AGAIN!!
      #38507 - 29/10/2008 08:33

I am already fed up with seeing his face, and he's hardly turned a pedal. Give us a break CW. You've already given him top billing over a British World and Olympic road champion. It's got to the point where I would rather see some anonymous CW staffer poncing around in a Rapha gimp mask.

It's like one of those recurring nightmrares - the Guy with the Hollow-eyed Stare.

I am a major investor in the overpriced cycling goods peddled by the firm Rapha.
If Mr Mottram, or his Rapha minions are reading this, I would like them to know that if they go into production with the Rapha gimp mask I will purchase one. It will match my Rapha leather gloves, which make me look a little like Alvin Stardust.

I'd just like to thank CW and Cycle Sport for fresh Armstrong images to put up on my dartboard.

Hear hear. It should have been Ballan on the cover - if an interview and winning the world championships doesn't merit that, what does.

It's become like the US elections, everyone pandering to those who haven't made up their minds about committing to cycling or not - bloody swing-cyclists.

Christ Almighty, I hadn't noticed the Cycle Sport cover. That's four quid I won't be spending.

Listen to your core readership CW, rather than trying to attract the "casual buyer". It is BORING to see his face three weeks in a row, and now this issue makes it 4 out of 5.
I think I will cancel my subscription. I've flogged my free gift on Ebay anyway.

Awww - I thought my Halloween mask problems were over when I saw this thread, but no - even though any visible picture of That Man is always gonna be too big, it would seem that it's not actually a cut-out-and-keep-halloween mask....am so disappointed...

Get used to it, as we get closer to the TDF, we'll all be seeing an awful lot more of LA....and why not?

By then I'll have stopped buying the mags that feature him all the time.

Looks like Lional has been reading the rants about too much Armstrong on the cover of the mags and put it in the wednesday comment, I did guess that his mug shot sells copies and may get more into cycling...Post it notes indeed(maybe a subscription members cover should be issued! ah well at least the message is getting through..in future when thinking of a cover picture remember Monty Python "On second thoughts let's not go to Lance-a-lot...'tis a silly place!!

I'd rather see 'The Legend That Is Lance' on the front cover than a couple of unknown gimps riding a sportive pretending that they are racing.
Oh. Have I said too much?

I would rather see someone that actually has been racing; and I don't mean a poxy 'cross race in Vegas.
I can't remember Tom Simpson's World Champs win in 1965, but I would be willing to bet CW produced a souvenir issue. (Show us the cover if you can, CW). I wonder what Nicole Cooke's dad said when he got hold of the post-worlds "souvenir" edition, and saw our first road champion for 43 years featured less prominently than a shoe, a chainset and LA, because those things shift more magazines in the short term. In many magazine racks her photo would have been invisible anyway. That will be one for her to show her grandchildren. Shameful and contemptible.

I'd think more cover shots of Pendleton, Pooley etc would sell more issues of the comic!

I am a fan of Armstrong and am please that he will be riding again BUT I have to agree with the sentiment of the postings here that the cover of CW should not be monopolised by him. If he wins a big race then, fair enough, I would expect him to feature on the cover but then I thought Nicole would.....

I am already cheesed off with next year's tour coverage. It is not the only race you know!

On a brighter note, I ordered a 4 DVD package of the spring classics from CW on Sunday night and they arrived today (Wednesday) - nice service.
