Every week day morning just as it gets light 20 miles on the road unless really wild weather. Out to work for the day gardening then 30 minutes on a turbo trainer or rowing machine..sometimes both and weight training 3 times a week, high rep/light weights except for legs which get low rep/heavy weights twice a week. One day at the weekend off (which one depends on the forecast) the other is a 70mile hill climbing route. Some nice winter days I will go cycling instead of work..(joys of self employed)
The road miles are not at really high intensity over the winter but steady using a winter bike weighing 14kg!!! Morning rides done before breakfast but after a banana. I find this is good for dropping weight which is this winters plan for me.

Cheers do you do alot in the dark, also how do you keep dry in the wettest of days. i find it near impossible to keep heavy rain from soaking my tights thru then wicking down into my shoes, even with the overshoes on.

I try and avoid the dark, heavy rain will just get you wet..nothing will keep you totally dry so just accept it!

Afraid bferg is right. Get used to the idea and console yourself that you only get wet once so you may as well keep plugging away. Dont do much riding at night but commute in dark. Plenty of lights and just go for it.
