A lot of empy seats for a sell out
      #38695 - 01/11/2008 15:03

for a sell out, there sure were a lot of empty seats at the UCI Track World Cup on Friday night. Noticed a lot of tickets on ebay the day before with no takers, hope the touts got stuffed and stay away.

wish I could have made it. Guess the crap weather is the main reason.
Just looked for some Sky coverage and was amazed to see there is only 1 hour on Sunday evening. A kind of highlights I guess.
With all the medals we won at the Olympics and the World dominance of Brit riders I just don't understand how they can give such pathetic coverage especially given the Celebs that are expected.

We're heading up there tomorrow. We've got seats, but to be honest, we spend more time wandering around watching the action than actually sitting down. If anyone else is the same, that might account for a lot of the empty seats. I think that cyclists are generally fidgets and not very good at sitting still for any length of time!! Except on a saddle of course...
I'm hopeless at it - especially wedding receptions where I'm crawling up the wall before they even serve the soup!!

First thing I noticed when I tuned in on Friday, a great big gap of empty seats. Questions should be asked! It's bad enough that football and cricket tickets are getting into the touts hands, we certainly don't need their type getting their grubby mits on tickets.

I was there on Saturday, I didn't see any touts outside, no one hanging around. Yes there was seats empty, but not everyone goes for the full 10 hour hit, people around me turned up just for the evening performance despite paying for the all day show, and there was people who left at 8pm as they had young children. Also, there are a lot of people hanging around the bars, restaurants, sponsor's stands and watching from the concourse. At the key time of around 7.30pm I think about 300 people had queued up to get Bradley Wiggin's signature which would have meant missing three gold meadals races which may explain a lot of available seats at a key time - luckily I bumped into him on the concourse and got his signature and didnt miss any races.

All in all, fantastic day of racing, amazing value for money, 32 races for a £14 ticket + £2 booking fee, I'll be back for more, all I can say is book early if you really want to go. I took my own food and drink and just bought the odd beer and water but it wasn't overpriced, £2.50 for a beer and £1 for bottled water.

As for coverage it was on BBCi on all three days - just press the red button!

There were empty seats, mine was empty for about a third of the time I was there and I was there for all three days. No one can sit on those seats for 10 hours solid, you get up have a walk round, stretch you legs, go and watch the racing from the banking, get a drink or whatever.
10 hours is a long time to sit still for
