I know we are a quite far from next years racing but are GB Cycles sponsoring the predictions for next year or are we in the market for a new sponsor, Is it worth having someone to contact the likes of Probikekit, Prendas, ribble, Wiggle, Chainreactioncycles, Evans etc as well GB cycles themselves, I hope someone in CW have forwarded our thanks to them for this years prizes also.

If we're already thinking about next year's prediction series -league- call it whatever - then the first step is to make sure that there's one or more volunteers willing to run it. I really enjoyed doing it last year - well most of the time - but, alas, I won't be able to commit myself to doing it in 2009.

Oh go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on,go on,go on,go on,go on,go on,etc.
I don't mind doing the odd classic, but not stage races or coordinating the whole thing.
That seems like a lot of work.

After TWA's excellent and good humoured work, a team of people will have a lot to live up to. And I think a team of people might be in order for the job, especially seeing as at times there were two or three races going on simultaneously or consecutively - I was getting mixed up with the predicting between the Tour of Ireland, Tour of Deutschland, Vuelta Overall Contenders and Vattenfalls Classics - how any one person could juggled their predictions and the scoring for all is beyond my understanding.
If Fizban is happy to co-ordinate or and tackle the bigger races (and I am aware that as I say this I am calling on Madame Guillotine), I would certainly be willing to volunteer to tackle a few of the Classics and smaller stage races - I had the mild experience of completing the work on the Friendly (for all but El Cid) Tour of Ireland, and that seemed to go OK. And, if I fail to muck things up entirely beforehand, I would not be completely averse to tackling the Giro, as I am definitely going to be stuck in London for that month

Excellent news!!
Or, as CW would put it - "All Hail Fizban the Hero!!"
I'm still happy to help out with some of the races - I never go away in July, so could certainly help out with the Tour. So maybe Fizban could divvy up the season a bit.
Oh and please sir, can I still be in charge of knitting the prediction leader's hat?? Got enough red wool left to last us through the next ten years!!

The Prediction League ran absolutely fine in 2007 without any prizes. It started off like that again in 2008 - no prizes - but the CW kindly donated some promotional stuff that they'd been given by SRAM, and then later by Geoffrey Butler. I don't think they've ever gone out of their way to seek sponsorships as such. I'm sure that if anything else turns up then Nigel Wynn would be happy to donate it to the predictions cause..

Those nice people at Lapierre have given us some caps to give away as prizes for next year. We'll also try and source some more goodies, but they may be from a variety of sources rather than a 'sponsor' as such - if no one company steps forward to have its name associated with this unique and high profile sponsorship deal.
Cheers
Nigel

Will the League start again from scratch? And if so, when?

We currently have a box of Lapierre baseball caps to give out as prizes, and there's probably still a few SRAM keyrings in the bottom of the box too. When they run out we'll do our best to find another sponsor.
I'll also have a rummage around the tech team's desk to see if there's any spare goodies lying around - just don't expect any Super Record levers, they're like rocking horse p*@.
A huge public thanks to TWA for all the effort she put in this year, it's very much appreciated. And well done to anyone who won a prize.
