race blades
      #39531 - 14/11/2008 18:37

Just got my rear wheel replaced by shimano due to a broken spoke and them(Shimano) not having any in the country, so all excited about getting out tomorrow for the first time in a month and figured it was a good time to get winter tyres and mudguards on. First time i've fitted these and i'm not sure how to fit in relation to rear brake. Front one looks ok due to short mudguard but not sure whether to sit rear one on top of brake or just behind it. Any suggestions gretaly appreciated...

Just behind is the way to go.

Race blades are ok, they keep the worst of the spray from your back and your feet but your bike will still end up in a fair old state. Go for the full guards if you get the chance, just fitted mine today and looking forward to tomorrows "club run" with the lads

I tuck mine under the caliper but bend the blade so it doesn`t touch (or it will rattle/rub)

hope this helps:)

THanks for the suggestions, thought i had them on ok but not long after setting off they started to rub, then rattle, then rub again took about 5 adjustments before finally getting sorted. Perfectly dry morning of course so didn't need the bloody things!!

Mudguards? Do they come with a free lifetime subscription / membership to the CTC?
Just think of all that extra weight!

Clearly you're rarely in front of anyone when you cycle.

I've just cut a mudflap from a Tesco plastic meat tray. You want to be a fashion victim, that's fine. I'll stick with dry feet thanks.
