The Garden of England hasn't got much concrete, bfergie, I don't know if you've visited, you should, its nice. (No,no,no El Cid).
All towns in East Kent are small, but the place is heavily populated, a result of 1500 years of people wanting to live here. The landscape is agricultural, but intensely farmed, with orchards, veg fields, pasture and arable, even hops in places. There are also woods.
As a result there are a lot of roads, many of saxon origin, and a lot of houses, which leads to quite a lot of traffic.
Its a lovely place, and the warmest, driest part of the UK. Usually.
Its great. But I expect Galloway is as well.

What is "off roading"?
If you drive a Range Rover/BMW M5, I think it means parking with two wheels on the pavement.

"This year Alberto Contador won on Angliru pedalling a gear of 34/28, necessary not just because it allows his efficient high climbing revs on the severest gradients, but also to combat wheel spin on a road surface that is more often wet than dry." Cycle Spurt, Dec 2008, page 88 Good enough for Bert, good enough for me.
