As many of you probably know from my previous posts, I had my bike nicked while I was away. After meeting with the loss adjuster, it seems likely I will be paid out in cash for the bike, rather than in Halfrauds vouchers, so I'm looking for a replacement.
My LBS stocks the Vinus Gladius, a full carbon bike with Campag components, for £1000.00, and I really fancy it. However, they do 2 different builds, one with a full 2009 Veloce groupset (with the redesigned ergo levers) and one with a mix of 2008 Centaur (levers, front& rear mechs) and Miche chainset.
I find the 2009 Veloce levers more comfortable. but would I be better going for the 2008 Centaur and getting used to them?

Just did some reading, quite good reviews but 1339g for the frame and 503g for the forks it's no lightweight, in fact it's 400g more than my alloy with carbon stays frame and Deda davs forks, that's the same as carrying a full water bottle extra , I think for the cash you can do better. Take your time in making a decision, it's not everyday you get this chance!!

Cheers bf, but weight has never really bothered me. I'm more concerned with comfort and strength, as I'm no lightweight, either. However, I will discuss it with the LBS owner before putting in my order.
I can't request my Cyclescheme voucher until next week anyway as our administrator is on holiday this week.

my winter bike has 2008 centuar on it and its great!
however i`ve had bad experience with things miche, the rear cassette is a piece of shiit in my experience.
i`ve bent sprockets in sprints, and snapped off teeth on almost half of the remaining sprokets, which leads me to think that you get what you pay for....
i`ve never had this problem with the campag cassette.

I'm leaning towards the Veloce. Ordered the Cyclescheem voucher yesterday. Can't wait!
Also, I forgot to ask if it's OK to use a carbon frame bike on a turbo trainer. A shop assistant once told me you shouldn't due to the stresses passed through the stays since the rear wheel was fixed.
However, all the pros seem to use turbos just fine when they warm up on their £5000+ rigs (although they do have several of them, and I can only afford one bike , so who's right? Would I be better off with rollers?

There is a lot of flex on the frame when on the turbo, I would go for an old frame and wheels for the job, no need for brakes, bar tape etc even old down tube shifters are fine then its always there ready to go! Save the nice bike for the outdoors where it belongs!
