I looked at the Carrera, but ended up getting this one: http://www.dawescycles.com/p-595-sportif-sl.aspx. You should be able to pick one up now for around £750.00.
I can add a little follow up to this post. I had a 53 or 54 cm Carrera in for a service, 9.8kg!! That's insane for a 105 kitted bike! My 105 kitted Forme carbon is 7.6kg and my alloy Principia is 8.3kg with 105...in fact my alloy cross bike is still 400g lighter than the carbon carrera!! Build quality was okay, finish was good enough for the cash but it's a tank!
