    Groupset mixing and matching

I have 10spd 5700 shifters and was wondering if the 6700 rear (SS) dérailleur would be compatible with them?

I have a copy of the Shimano road chart, but it's not up to date with the latest models - does anyone have a link to this too please?

It looks like I have found a gem of a site and looks like the 2011 5700 shifters are compatible with 6700 RD.

I had thought that the 5700 and 6700 (and 7900?) series were interchangeable, according to what I remember reading: they all had the newer brake pull ratios. From upgrading my Allez to full 105 5700 and the CAAD10 being Ultegra 6700, my view is that I notice the Ultegra shifters more that I do the rear mechs. That maybe because the Ultegra STI have carbon levers which are more comfortable on chilly mornings and seem to shift easier, having said that the gear cables are routed differently - I'll re-route the Allez when I change the bar tape and use the SIS cable outers this time.

Thanks. From what I have read I think it will work, if it doesn't I'll just need to get some Ultegra shifters and new front mech

Well... the Ultegra derailleur is fitted and changing into each gear however it is incredibly noisy, as if it is catching somewhere when running small and 5th sprocket-10th sprocket and large 5th-10th. It's like a grinding-clunking noise, so not fine tuning of the barrel and the chain catching on the sprocket somewhere but nothing obvious is rubbing/catching. I am wondering whether there is anything else that can be adjusted as the tension screw is completely out with very little tension on the B spring. Could it be chain length, although I don't think it is as big-big through the derailleur still has a bend in the chain?

Check the chain is looped correctly round the jockey wheels , I've seen a lot where folk have the chain the wrong side of the metal guide between the cogs and it grinds away...start simple.

Definitely all fine with regard to chain path.

It sounds actually like the chain isn't meshing properly on the jockey wheels, but the chain is <.75% stretch and was working OK on a brand new 105 derailleur I had fitted for the past week while the new one was in the post. Strange one and I think one possibly for the not so L BS as if it wasn't changing properly it is a different noise, a more metallic one of chain versus sprocket.
