Wee bit small for you maybe? Regarding what it's worth, depends on it'ds condition, history, etc, etc, etc

+1 to the above... 0.67x inside leg, would suggest 52 or 54. So 52 may be ok, but could need a longer stem. Value wise.. the bike is a good spec. Can't find any references to a 5.9 2008 but 5.5 version appears to have a RRP of £2600 when new , although that model had Dura-Ace shifters and Brakes. http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/catego...ne-55-08-32322 .
If in good condition, I would think that something like 40% to 50% of original purchase price would be fair, so £720 would appear to be a reasonable price.

One word of caution though... If you do decide to buy it, make sure you collect in person, get a test ride and give it a thorough inspection before handing over your cash.

Apparently the bike is used as a second bike, dry use only and will have a lbs service before sale. How does a 5 year old bike like this compare to say £1k boardman or cube? Is old well maintained da 7800 better than new 105? Will the frame b as good as a
tapered steerer and bb30 new 1?

Re: TREK Madone 5.9 2008? Whats it worth?

A second bike for using in dry conditions only? Sure the seller will have to try harder, that my friend is bollocks. My second bike is there to get used on wet/crappy days and on dirty roads, and doesn't get cleaned nearly as fastidiuosly as the good bike. Bike design and equipment has moved on massively in the last 5 years.

Boardmans get good reviews, Cube too. However it's not just about the price, it's what you get with it. If you visit your LBS they will have good brands such as Trek/Giant that do some cracking bikes for the money - And you have a guarantee, you will get a free service at least and with some strong haggling should get some accessories thrown in or a decent discount off the ticket price. (Aim for £100 free accessories, it's the same as £50 off the price to the shop owner really)

As an example, I bought a Trek Madone 3.5 late last year (bike to work, whoohoo!) and at £1500 it is a brilliant bike. Punches well above it's weight. 105/ultegra mix, frame is getting cracking reviews. There's a 3.1 a wee bit cheaper with 105/tiagra mix. Boardman, Cannondale, Trek, Giant all do great bikes at your price point, the frame/wheels are most important, you can upgrade the groupset at your leisure if you like the frame - and it fits and is set up properly. That is vital and it's something most LBS's are good at.

Regards components moving on - My new Sram Force changes much better than my 5 year old sram red on the new bike I picked up last week.

You need a 54cm, but you could get away with a 52cm,? Seat up; and a longer stem maybe!
