    Sprint finishes. Any tips?

Although I train for sprints, I get a little nervous in the run up to a sprint finish. Are there any tips on how to relax in the lead up of a road race sprint???? My tendency is to sit too far back or to hold back in a sprint. Any bullying techniques to be able to hold the wheels without being pushes out welcome! No seriously, I have the ability but just keeping holding back.

    Don't hold back !
Sounds simple but if you believe you have the ability then get at or around the front and go for it.
    Carpe Diem.
...for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Given my race experience is being dropped in folding bike races I didn't reply as don't have any experience on the subject and I suspect quite a few people didn't reply as they don't race so also don't have any personal insite...

I'd love to tell you the answer but sprinting was never my forte. Probably the same technique as improving my strength though which was descending. What seems to work is visualising. This google produced the following :- http://www.coach-hughes.com/resources/breathing5.html

try and suss out who the stronger guys are in the last fews laps, watch what they're doing and who's wheel they are on. Pick a wheel and try and hold it coming up to the finish. Elbows out a bit to give yourself a bit more space. Use the race, or a recce before to figure out where you're comfortable going from and try and stick to it.
If everyone else is hesitating just go when you are ready or hold the wheel and try and launch off it.
A lot comes down to experience, so use every finish to help build technique and experience for the next one.
    Good luck!
