Got a chance of buying this .
    Trek 2.1 Alpha 2011.
    105 Groupset . Shimano R600 Cranks.
    Bontrager SSR Wheels .
    Immaculate condition .
What do you think it's worth ?"

I would say you're asking for advice..., unless you were just passing the time of day and not wanting a response which would constitute advice. Then you come across all high and mighty about your experiences in LBS when people with far more experience than you care to offer an opinion which differs from yours. Some of them actually work in the industry. I see a lot of MAMILS and ATGNIs on the road... see you around. LOL.
At what point did I ask advice about wheels ?
Not once if you read properly.
I asked advice about the value of the bike .
I said i was buying a particular wheel set , my choice .
I was not looking for advice on wheels full stop.
What category do you fall in ?

M1keez original question was about the value of the bike for which he got an answer and he paid much less. His next post seems to be a comment stating how he will upgrade the bike - to me this was not written as a question.

However, wishing to ensure that M1keez gets the most bang for his buck, based on experience, advice was given as to thinking about the upgrade path. Ultimately life is our own personal journey based on the decisions we make. We choose which advice we take, sometimes that's good and other time it isn't.
Thank you , just my point . I did not ask for advice on wheels at all . Yes I appreciate all comments and expertise offered .
And i know most guys on here offer very good free advice.
When Bfergie raised his disapproval of my choice.
I was just making the point of what I was told clearly by the shop.
I'm in the middle . I made my choice purely on the experience I have with these wheels .
I do not disbelieve Bfergie for one minute .
But you put your trust in Bike shops to help you out.
I did not intend to cause any ill feeling .

They are local and it is a minefield on the Web.

Mikeez, hopefully you will treat the advice given by your LBS on this occasion re the wheels with a bit of scepticism - Worth bearing in mind for the next time you're in the market to buy something.

As I said before, they are trying to make a living by selling you what they have in stock or what they make a decent margin on, and what they can get quickly. Doesn't make them bad people, I would do the same!
    Heading into a personal headwind....

Neither, I don't even own a bike. LOL

I have been to 5 LBS in the last 3 years, I would trust only one (Epic Cycles and not that local to me). Take from that what you will. They are there to make a sale and would sell you a penny farthing if they thought you thought it was a good deal. People on here have a lot of useful information and it is worth following or at least researching before dismissing.

Enjoy your riding and hope you get what you need, internet advice or not.
