    Prescription insert for sunglasses

Just bought some new multi-lens glasses.. (mainly for the yellow lens as i broke the last pair i had)

Anyway, they've come with an insert to add prescription lenses.

    Has anyone used these?

I am slightly shortsighted so distance can be a problem in low light..not that i've ever had any major problems so far!
I guess i just go to an optician (specsavers?) and they'll make lenses to fit?

Exactly So. I have some for fly fishing. Polarised prescription lenses fitted in to any frames of your choice.

try your LOE.... (you know, local optical expert, as in LBS....)

I was shafted when I bought bins from Optical Express, they got me buying transition lenses and anti-glare coating. I told them I needed good glasses as I do a lot of driving, and they don't bleedin work in the car! After a wee bit to-n-fro I got my money back, went to an LOE and they were half the price.

So you're not much good at sprinting either?

Aren't they the ones that Tyler Farrar wears so he can see Cav and the rest disappearing off into the sunset.

    Re: Prescription insert for sunglasses

I've got the transition lenses in my everyday glasses, and it is a pain that they don't work in the car.. they do however work when on my motorbike, which saves me having to carry a clear pair of glasses when out.. Oh and mine were free with one of specsavers offers a couple of years ago.

Won't need anything fancy for these inserts.. that's if i can use them.. on a closer look they do look a bit flimsy. One problem with buying at the cheap end of sunglasses.. I might try Buzz's suggestion and try one of the opticians in the village to get a gauge of cost.

Talking of transition lenses and the Garmin team.. at the Tour of California a couple of years ago they were giving out wrist bands made of the transitions material..that went dark in the sun/light out of it... wasn't impressed with the quality cos they stopped working before i got back to England..just hope the lenses last longer!
