    Tyres?

    Hi,

I have been riding on Ultra Gatorskins for between 1500 and 2000 miles and had my first puncture after Sunday's 80 mile club run. I have now decided that it is time for some new tyres. I have ridden on Vittoria Zaffiros and Ultrasports in the past and have had punctures non-stop with both sets.

I'm looking for a set of tyres which are fairly cheap and fairly puncture resistant. I found some Schwalbe Blizzard Sports which sounded quite good, Can anyone recommend? Or does anyone have any suggestions? Help would be muchly appreciated, thanks.

I have been using Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp for a few months, very impressed with them:

Have put these on my second bike, can't feel the difference between the two different sets but too soon to comment on longevity of them:

As ever, it has to be VFTs in summer. Michelin Krylion Carbons when the weather turns.

Suggest you avoid Michelin Pro Race 3. I have had eight punctures in the front wheel and two in the rear so far this year. Schwalbe Ultremo ZX seem to be getting very good reviews. My other bike runs ancient Ultra Gatorskins, they will wear out before they puncture, I think, they also roll very well. Perhaps the current Continentals are worth considering?

1 puncture in 1500 miles isn't bad. Are you sure you need to change the tyres? Ihave been running Conti GP4000s on the good bike.. Can't be bothered to go to the garage to check the mileage but will be well over 2500 miles by now, no punctures yet and still going well. Wouldn't really expect to get many punctures in dry, warm weather (relatively anyway).

Wet weather bike has Conti GP4 season... Used em all winter and a good part of the spring and summer. Had a couple of punctures... thorns left on the road by our helpful farming community... probably the same ones that regularly cake the roads with mud every spring and autumn.
Anyway.. tyres have served me pretty well... May try Tricomps at some point but no immediate need.

I put Michelin Lithion Tyres on my winter bike; and put 100psi in the front & 110psi in the rear. they ride nicely. I have the Schwalbe Ultremo ZX on the Cube; and I think they're a really good dry weather tyre. Not too bad in the wet either.

I use Prorace for competition and training on dry days or Specialized Armadillo for puncture resistance in the winter.

Tricomps are top. Schwalbe Durano DD's pretty bombproof too.

    Re: Tyres?

Just got some Lithions from Probike.. with yellow sidewalls.. seemed a good idea at the time..not so sure now they've arrived! Won't stay yellow for long on the winter bike so no problems!

I'd recommend Tricomps too.. got them on the cosmics and a great tyre.. (as recomended by someone on here when i was looking..)
