Im just really looking for advice from people who have done it before, i have a couple of route cards from issues of MBR and Singletrack etc.....

But am looking for more info.

Where is best to start, which is the best campsite to stay at etc...

Hello, myself and a friend did this last month, get yourself an OS map of the area. Pack a couple of spare tubes each, tyre levers a little first aid, good high energy food, water, charge your phones, we also took a small emergency bivvy and good quality clothing layers and a compass. We stayed at a B&B in Llanberis and set off at 8am. Head south past the Snowdon Railway dep point on the A4086, at the first small roundabout turn right and grind up the tarmac until you come to a 90degree left followed by a 90degree right, up ahead you will see a sign for the summit and a left hand turn that takes you onto the Llanberis path. Ride push and carry to the summit, it took us a couple of hours. We came down the Rangers Trail/Path, head back down from the summit the way you went up until you see a smallish standing stone on your left on the west side of the train tracks, eyes up and let her rip, once you reach the bottom of the Rangers Trail (it flattens out and the mayhem is all but over) continue on until you see a wooden post directing you to Llanberis, it's just after a gate, turn right and push up a marshy slope, at the top take the path that leads straight ahead and down, this is FAST, watch out for the drainage run offs which cut the path at 90 degrees and are made from slate, you'll pinch flat at best if you get it wrong. Let someone know you set off and when to expect a call, and above all.....ENJOY!

I can't recommend any specific ones in the area especially as at this time of year many of them close. If you are committed to camping I'd look for campsites near Dolgellau as they are much more likely to be open due to their proximity to Coed y Brenin.

    Hope this helps!

For accomodation or food in Llanberis check Petes Eats. Along time climbing and walking cafe with good value food and some basic self catering accomodation and showers available.
