I've just started developing a noisy front wheel on the commuter bike.
It's a Shimano RS10 wheel, so no spokes crossing, however it is making noises like the spokes are pinging and releasing off each other.
Do I need a new bike?

Definitely. Once a bike starts rattling (anywhere and for whatever reason) it needs replacing, obviously with something better too, something which wont rattle. Same goes for rusty chains. And punctures. And going slow up hill, all valid reasons for new carbon fibre purchases.
I'm with Step,
Turn your good bike in to your commuting steed; and get your self a nice new shinny (Sunday Best) bike, just for that feel good factor (providing you can justify the purchase) and because there are some good offers on at present. Failing that? Get a new wheel.
It's not out of true, could it be however that the spokes need an even tighten all round?
It shouldn't be spokes pinging off each other as I think RS10's are radial at the front. If they do need a tighten it could be the ends of the spokes moving about in the hub or the rim, Mavic Aksium owners know all about this!
I'd get them serviced and then see if they still make the same noise on a nice new bike!
Italians only make stuff for other people to fix.
