    Pinhead Locks: Advice Please

Last Christmas I bought a GT bike which has Pinhead locks - wheels, seat, headset - and have been riding it now for a couple of weeks since my old bike was stolen.

I like the ability to lock the bike with some certainty that the wheels and saddle will still be there on my return.

My concerns are that the locks need the special tool - so I need to carry it around - and that as a tool it is frankly rubbish. I can't get much purchase on it and there is no proper spanner option on their website. I am not too bothered by seat and headset, but I feel I want to lock the wheels on tight.

Worse, I nearly had a crash tonight because my front wheel worked loose on a road descent - I think the front skewer just vibrated itself undone. I heard a weird noise and stopped, only to see the front wheel almost out of the vertical dropouts. I was one bump away from hospital...

Have I bought a turkey? Can I replace the wheel skewers with classic quick release?

    Any advice welcome.

    Mike

Looking at the advert on Wiggle I would say yes you can. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/pinhead-duo-...FUxY3godCBUAhA
