    Re: Super Record Chainset

Ok some interesting replies here. Having read a bunch of stuff on the net it seems there may be an issue with Record and Super Record bearings allowing dirt and water ingress due to only being sealed on one half of the bearing.
Given that service life and longevity is pretty much the main reason I wanted Record, before I decide to take the plunge I'd be interested in hearing opinions on an alternative chainset that would work with the rest of a campg 11 speed gruppo. It's gotta be durable, preferably carbon and look great.

Hmmn, Campag top spec groups from way back have arguably been LESS durable than mid-priced, due to use of alloy pivots rather than steel, etc, so wearing faster. The premium for Record/Super Record is really the marginally lighter weight.

    Anyway, 11spd alternatives...
    How about FSA?

Yup FSA is my suggestion too. I use FSA K Force on my carbon bike and it's lovely. Can't fault it!

Thanks for the replies. The FSA certainly looks the part although a quick look on Google gives mixed reviews for the ceramic bottom bracket. I guess that's the Internet for you! Anybody can say anything about anything and who's to say what their opinions worth? I'm now leaning towards a full Chorus group which looks and performs as near as damn it as good as Record and will leave me change to replace plenty of bottom bracket bearings should I need to!

    Thanks again.

With a K Force you can fit Shimano BBs if you like for £20 that last very well. I use a One23 Ceramic with mine and had no issues at all.
