Re: Froome over Wiggins for TDF 2013

who votes in that then? Is it all in house, hush hush type of thing if so Pat'll be back in but if it's federations voting and riders get more vocal on cleaner cycling then he stands a chance. Would be interesting.

They need the support of some big names riders and teams to give it a good go and fans who want to see clean racing can put pressure on the teams and sponsors to get onboard by signing the petition. Those interested in maintaining the status quo of "charged to the eyeballs riders" and a lapdog governing body will doubtless give it a miss.

Me too, Signed the petition; and it would do cycle sport some good to have the correct changes made.

At the risk of taking the thread in another direction, I have to say I always admired Bugno. Was he clean? Would that explain why he never quite succeeded in Le Tour, against Indurain, Pantani and the rest? I hope so.
We saw him in the start village of a La Vuelta stage, getting a shave from a bunch of lycra-clad Wilkinson Sword girlies. My wife thought he was gorgeous. I wanted to get a shave.

I doubt he was Tony! A quick Google search will throw up lots of information on him and Conconi, and some pretty serious rumours about his current health which is alleged came from EPO use. In the CCN group Vaughters and jorg jaske have admitted to doping, so I don't think it makes a bit of difference to their campaign - oh and I remember my missus commenting on the good looking sod years ago too!

I would put Bugno in the same bracket as Millar. Somebody who is trying to do something about the current situation.
The amnesty seems like a good idea to me and I particularly like clause D. about "Zero Tolerance" given that the one team that is spouting this still has two very dodgy people on their roster.

ISTR that Bugno was done for caffeine which is no longer considered a PED As far as his current health is concerned I think that as the lead Helicopter pilot for RAI Cycling coverage he is above average in his personal fitness.

If you Google Gianni bugno epo you will read the same as I did dang.

I doubt very much anyone Italian at that time at the top of the sport (winning world titles) wasn't on something especially if their doctor was Conconi. Sorry to say it but there you go - commendable the three I mention above are all trying to change the sport for the benefit of the next generation

I remember the caffeine thing, and I know I'm hoping against hope that Bugno was clean. He was such a classy rider though.

Re: Froome over Wiggins for TDF 2013

The EPO suggestion was probably true as we know of many others who were not caught, but the stuff that comes up about his health is simply not a possibility as he has regular Health checks for his Helicopter license.
