    Tyre run out

Was fitting some new conti 4000s 25 mm tyres to new wheels last night and have come across a problem of about 4to5mm of tyre run out. It's that much that it's hitting the brake bridge.
tried taking the tyre off and reseating it.. No difference
Marked tyre at high point and swopped it onto another rim and still same.
So then put used conti on new rim this has 2mm run out and does not touch the brake.
Thinking I will send tyre back but has anyone else ever come across this as a tyre going up n down even 2mm can't be good for high speed handling ..
    What is acceptable?

Bassett, send it back mate....Tyres should be Round, Not Egg shaped !!

In my eyes, nothing is acceptable like that in a tyre.

Never had a tyre do that myself, but i dont run Conti's...Vreddy TriSport for me.

    Re: Tyre run out

Fact that it was 2mm out on the 2nd wheel is interesting. Not sure why that should be. But may be either partly due to the wheel or maybe the bead is a little thicker. In one place. Since it seemed to be a little beter on the 2nd wheel, it is possible that it has worn in a little.... So could be an idea to t
Examine the bead for anything that may stop it seating properly and maybe try fitting it with a little soapy water to see if that is any better.

    Re: Tyre run out

    Thanks for all the replies.
I have spent another hour or so checking rim run out and swopping tyres about and have found the following .
2 conti gp4000s 25mm i have one new and one used are are running out one by 4mm<the new one> and the used by about 2mm.
Another new gp4000 i got at the same time is perfect as are some used pro 3s .
Only reason i became aware of this was the original brake rub problem i have never checked tyres for this before.
I will always check my tyres in future as the up and down run out has got to affect high speed handling.
New one will be returned next week .
Would be interesting to see what other peoples are like on the run out front only takes seconds to visually check.
