At 98kg there is no gain in looking at lightweight wheels, best go for some 32 spoke Mavic Open Pro rims, some nice hubs be that Novatec, Hope or DT Swiss and DB spokes. Yes they weigh 200g more but it's nothing compared to the peace of mind, increases stiffness and user friendliness you get! Handbuilts are what I'd recommend until under 85kg to play safe. Sorry.
One factory build are American Classic Aero3 since they are rated to 115kg.
    +1

Im 17 stone plus and have a set of handbuilt wheels that cost me £400 and have never let me down. Ambrosio excellence rims on 28 hole Record hubs with Dt Swiss double butted spokes. Spares are readily available and (when) they need truing (they haven't yet) its a simple job for a home mechanic.

    Hi Fergie,

I'd not realised that there was an upper weight limit on the 4ZA wheels. I have a pair on my Ridley; and they are the recommended CX wheels; and they do roll very nicely, but I'm under 11, stone. the young lady doing the review of them on CW was very impressed with them. But as you say; custom wheels would be best for the heavier and stronger type of cyclist.
