According to the rather fabulous RoadCC FB page (SO down with the kids!) the Ride London-Surrey 100 (Olympic RR course) places get announced today. So I just wanted to wish everyone luck if you applied for one. Apparently 55,000 people going for 20,000 spaces. Mrs Nobby has already got a spot riding on one of the Please Raise Mega-Bucks places with an asthma charadee. I'm a little surprised that she went for them as whenever I start wheezing it's always 'Hurry up and die Baldy!' Charming! Naturally, I shall hear of nothing else if I don't get a place. However, being naturally optimistic I'm as good as convinced I've got one but which bike will it be - Carrera/Tricross, Bomb-proof/Slightly Stealthy and more than a little bit Sexy? Decisions, decisions... Oh yes, and I'll be the one at the back, broomwagoned before I get out of the Olympic Park!

ARSE! Broomwagoned before I even got to the Olympic Park. Still, it was nice of the organisers to send me a nice glossy mag with 'Commiserations you've been unsuccessful in gaining a ballot place in the....' on the front cover. Ah well, that's a date with B&Q on Sunday 4th August for me then! 'Best laid plans' and 'Counting chickens' and all that. Anyone else get a place? Yours in abject misery, 'Bereft of Broadstairs'.

If I tried the same trick with Mrs Nobby, I'd just get a smack in the chops!

55,000 people after 20,000 places. More like 10,000 places available for non charity riders going by the proportion of people I know that got in or rejected. Anyone know how many places were guaranteed to charities?
Re: Ride London-Surrey 100 places announced today!
Yaaay! Just got a place on the RideLondon100 riding for Epilepsy Action (I have epilepsy) after SIXTEEN rejection letters. Quite took me back to my old 'courting' days (the rejection not the epilepsy). Although, thinking about it, does anyone actually still 'court' these days? I rather think they 'woo' instead! Be very aware if you see a (slightly) balding middle-aged man in full lycra coming towards you rattling a tin - it might just be me...Besides I couldn't let Mrs Nobby ride it alone - she might molest the good people of Hampton Wick!
