Could be wrong here but I think BBC are getting back FI !?!?
So with a world champ and SPOTY , BBC are going to be very smug next year!!

That's a big factor, I remember that the english rugby team got Team of the Year when BBC were chasing the 6 Nations contract.
    Call me a cynic.
...for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I am pleased to see that Nicole is the choice here. Sad to see that today you can get 279 to 1 on her with Betfair, ahead of Wiggins, Pendleton and Cavendish, who Betfair's clients rank equally with Tim Henman at 999 to 1! Romero is at 649 to 1. Only Hoy is a respectable each way bet at 5 to 1 in what is disgracefully seen as a two horse race: Adlington at 1.64 to 1 and Hamilton at odds on
I guess we all need to vote for Hoy then. I'd vote for Cav if I could, I just really don't want to see a car driver win.

(And how can Adlington be above Hoy? She won two, he won three - do the math!)
Don't confuse independent thought with the rantings of a bitter old man

First letter in the SUN's letter page( obviously leapt to the front of Hoy and Adlington after all their dedication, training etc when he drives a computerised car with a legion of technicians behind him . Couldn't agree more - - - - Nicole Cooke was even better tho'

Why get so excited? The same people who kept voting for John Seargeant in that dance programme will be voting here.

In fact, it's a shame he's not in it, I bet he'd win!

    Re: SPOTY POLL

why on earth would any cyclist that wants to see their sport get the attention it deserves waste a vote on Nicole Cooke?

Granted she is world and Olympic champion but Chris Hoy has dwarfed her achievements and is well known amongst the sporting public so lets all vote for Chris!

I'm not sure even Chris Hoy would think that he'd dwarfed Nicole's achievements.

How can you say that.Hoy has had the benefits of thousands if not millions of pounds thrown at him and a programme no other cycling nation can compete with.He did well. But the only way he dwarfes her is in size
Nicole is as you say world and olympic champion not to mention british one.She has won the ladies tour and countless other races. To say hoy has dwarfed her achievements is ludicrous.Nicole is one of the best road cyclist we have had ever.We might never see another world and olympic road champion in our lifetime.
So I bet you think hoy has done better than cav too
Im voting for Nicole because I think she deserves it the most.

    ps
do you write for the comic by any chance

    Re: SPOTY POLL

like I said, a vote for Nicole is a waste of a vote. Ask Joe public what Nicole has won. Cycling is a minority sport and spreading our votes across all those nominated might get our cyclists 3rd - 6th. Who was 3rd last year?

    Re: SPOTY POLL

A couple of times over the last few days I have though that I might change my mind and vote for Hoy just because it would make victory for a cyclist more likely, but after hearing some of the arrogant emotional blackmail posted here and other places about our "duty" to vote a certain way I am sticking with my original intention to vote for the person who most deserves it.

    Nicole Cooke.
Nobody ever got laid because they rode Shimano.
