I have been down in London for about 9 or 10 years now. My current role is as transport and travel manager for a large development that is going up in Shepherds Bush. I commute the 14 miles to work each day on either my trusty Trek 1000 or my new Specialized Sirrus Hybrid....both of which I like for differnt reasons. My journey takes me through some of the most affluent areas of London, and then through some of the most deprived areas of London....but I digress... The congestion charge has not made the slightest bit of difference to people driving in London. The reason you probably didn't see many private cars was that they where all parked up in the various car parks until the congestion zone charging ended. I think I saw a report the other day that said congestion levels in the zone are back upto the levels before the zone commenced.
I notice that cycling is totally depenent on the weather in London. The other Monday when it was pouring down I saw probably 3 or 4 fellow cylists in my 14 miles.
But today, it was warm and humid, the bike rack at my work was full.
Cycling in London is great and it takes me half the time the train/tube would take me to get to work.
I just hope Boris puts his money where his mouth is....and if TfL have anything to do with it he will....

I am not as good as I think I am.
