Battery charger
      22/11/2008 00:26

Not sure whether this or the Lounge is the right place to mention this but over here in Canada an engineer has produced a battery charger (primarily for use in medical situations), that takes the form of a knee brace similar in appearance to that worn by people with knee problems.

He has said that it can be used to charge all manner of devices and that the knee is a very good area of the body for this kind of thing. Mobile phones, small hand held computers etc, etc were mentioned.

This item of news has made me think that so much of what we as cyclists use that requires a battery including lights would qualify but then again using such a device might prove impractical. Why is it then that so much potential battery charging energy is produced when we ride but, apart from the old lighting systems that failed when you stop pedalling, nothing is available.

HRMs, computers, lights, mobile phones, plus a few that I'm sure I don't know about.

Seems it's an opportunity waiting for someone to take up.
